WHO MADE MY CLOTHES?
The campaigners FASHION REVOLUTION, are dedicated to raising awareness of issues within the fashion industry. As part of their campaign on openness and fair working practices following the Rana Plaza collapse in Bangladesh – the worlds’ 4th largest industrial disaster – we wanted to join the campaign for a clean, safe, fair and accountable fashion industry.
As part of the #whomademyclothes campaign, we invited some of the employees at our partner factory in China to show you their faces and working environment. We have worked with this family run factory for a long time. It is very important to us to continue this relationship and support people who have not only become a part of our lives, but have continuously adapted to change in the fashion industry in order to stay in business.
As well as supporting our current relationships, we are also investigating UK production. Regardless of the fact that the UK was highly skilled at clothing production at one time, the machinery needed to produce more advanced items such as compression leggings is not widely available in the UK, and often needs a considerable investment to accommodate. We will continue to work on this with a view to also supporting our own UK workforce.
